How long have auroras been observed on the Earth?

Records for auroral events go back at least as far as recorded human history itself most likely. Aristotle in his book 'Meteorologica' wrote about glowing clouds. The Old Testament Bible, believed to be a collection of writings from before 1000 BC also mentions phenomena like aurora.
